IDEN (International Digital Education Network)
What does IDEN mean?
International Digital Education Network or IDEN is a three-year major project in the field of digitizing international teaching and the Student Journey. The project is part of the funding program "International Mobility and Cooperation Digital" (IMKD), which is financed by the BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) and coordinated by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). The Department for International Education Management of Ludwigsburg University of Education was able to win the project in a nationwide two-stage selection process and is thus one of six universities supported by the program .
Which goals does IDEN pursue?
IDEN pursues the following goals:
- Digitalisation of Teaching
A central goal is the digitization of international teaching, especially the interlinking of the digital curricula of all participating universities. Over the next three years, the focus will therefore be on the development and implementation of 80 polyvalent, barrier-free, English online learning units. The production process of the learning units is located at the Ludwigsburg University of Education in order to develop the competence for the creation of digital learning units. The didactic concept is created by teachers of the participating universities. A special production team will focus on technical aspects and the media didactical design. The learning units focus on the topics educational management, intercultural learning, scientific work and media didactics. The project partners have already produced an audiovisual prototype in the first stage of the selection process.
- Digitalisation of Student Administration
Another goal is the digitization of the Student Journey. Student’s points of contact with their university - from enrolment to the timetable configuration, the inspection of grades, the crediting of academic achievements abroad, to the de-registration and data transfer - as well as the associated administrative processes are to be digitized and optimized. The digital service quality of the Ludwigsburg University of Education will be improved by integrating step by step the separately operating data systems for application, examination and student administration into the digital campus management system HISinOne. The exchange of student data between universities will also be facilitated by adding the local campus management system to the European Emrex infrastructure (Easy Mobility on Recognition of External Studies). Upon request of the student, performance data (module participations, grades) can be transmitted digitally to another university. The university is then able to decide whether these achievements can be credited to one of its degree programs. The digitization of this process is intended to facilitate a paperless transfer between universities.
